Whilst still at the Supreme Court Mr. Lee inquired

whether I had a car, to which I replied I had. Mr. Lee told me then that I was to be posted to the New Territories in October or beginning November.

As no substitute could be found to replace me in the Supreme Court my transfer to the Immigration Department was delayed till the 1st day of December, 1941. On two or three occasions prior to my transfer I was permitted to call at the Immigration Department and on these occasions I did my best to pick up the procedure in accepting applications for permits."
